My wife and I will be making our second trip to the UK this coming October/November. Two years ago we spent three weeks between London, York, Edinburgh, and Paris. We absolutely LOVE London and York, and want to give Ireland a try this time around. We now have a newly one year old son who will be traveling with us on our next trip. We plan on booking a round trip flight to London Gatwick and spending our first week in London. From there, we plan on flying to Dublin for six days.
If anyone has a recommendation of a great small town outside of Dublin with beautiful history and charm, please feel free to let us know! While we love the hustle and bustle of larger cities such as London and Dublin, we would love to find a more low-key town/city outside of the city like York is to London. We plan on either renting a car and driving from Dublin to a small town for 2-3 days, or if possible take a train. Ideally we do not want the location to be much more than 2-3 hours from Dublin.
