My son will be attending NUIG in Galway for a study abroad semester. I want to accompany him and sight see before classes begin. We will NOT have a car. He can move into his dorm August 29, but classes do not begin until Sept. 7th. I'm thinking of flying into DUB around the 25th, spending a few days there, then taking guided tours (any suggestions?) from the city. I'm thinking maybe Belfast and/or Trim?
From there, we'll train or bus to Galway and drop off his semester's worth of luggage.
I'm not sure what to do next. I'd like to tour small towns, historic sites, castles, etc.. We'd either have to put together our own route using buses/trains or take (a) guided tour(s). I'm not usually a tour-bus type of gal. We'd have about a week or so. Though I'm flexible with regard to the length of the trip.
As school begins, we'll return to Galway and see the more local attractions, as well as the Cliffs of Moher and Aran islands.
