Need suggestion for 4 night hub near Galway

We have the following 10 night itinerary in May and looking for suggestions for hub in a village for 4 nights situated so we can visit Aran islands, do Ashford castle hawk walk, and Burren. Doolin, Ennis? This will obviously be our longer stay so would prefer a quaint village with some good pubs to come home to at night from our day trips
2 nights Dublin
1 night Kilkenny
2 nights Kenmare
4 nights??
1 night Dublin before flight

Thank you!

We haven't yet stayed in Kinvara, but that was recommended to us as a good base for that area. We did stay in Ennis on 2 prior trips and I thought it was rather "uncharming", but was a good central point. This next trip, in September, we will be staying in Kinvara. You might check that one.

Elaine,

Keep in mind Galway is a CITY and there are commuters going to Apple, etc. Be sure to look at your direction each day before you enter into rush hour traffic! It was worse than I expected on a weekend trip to Claregalway.

Keep an eye out for Lahinch, Spanish point or villages like those - great, quaint, and much less crowded than many other bigger ones!

I did stay in Doolin recently, but much away from the water. I was up the hill outside of town (near Ekotree - a fantastic knitting "factory" that you can tou}r - and no tourists around. We walked to a pub, and had a grand night of music! There were Yanks there, but not many and it's clearly a hangout for locals. Being up at the top of the hill made the views much better than down in Doolin, too.... I did have to drive to get to the dock for the boat trip....and the parking IS paid parking down there.....

Thank you Susan for the reminder about Galway and the traffic. We decided upon Kinvara (thanks Donna) as our base and now will go to Cong one of our final 3 days in that area so will be mindful of start time to avoid traffic. Our final "plan"
2 nights Dublin
1 night Kilkenny-visit Cashel on way to Kenmare
2 nights Kenmare
1 night Dingle -
3 nights Kinvarra - visit Cliffs on way there, Burren, Aran Islands (weather permitting), Ashford Castle hawk walk
1 night Dublin
This has been a hard one to plan but I feel this covers a lot of ground and with the 2 thatched roof BNB's we are staying in along the way will check the boxes for us:) So excited!!

The drive from Dingle to Kinvara will make for a long but enjoyable day. It’s worth leaving Dingle via Conor Pass; lovely scenery. I decided to take the Tarbert ferry for the experience; it was interesting.

When you are in Cong / Ashford Castle keep an eye out for Elizabeth Toher's photography studio. It's in Cong, up the hill from the river, in the town. Her work is wonderful!

If you're looking for a place to stay in Dingle, check out Milltown House. My favorite place, and one of the owners' is a RS guide!
