ND Football vs. Navy 8/29

Hello. Has anyone bought tickets/ considered going? I thought it would be a pipe dream to go but now it may be realistic? Any thoughts? We live 40 minutes north of there so have always been fans...go to games etc...

I'm confused. They are planning to hold a US football game in Ireland this summer?

I would love to attend, but I'm guessing it doesn't happen.

IF this game, or any others, are played, it is likely to be in an empty stadium.

The only reason to play college football in an empty stadium is for the TV revenue to pay the sport dept salaries and 'mortgage' on the infrastructure and scholarships for the athletes.

It will challenging to work out the logistics to put on a game, even in an empty stadium.

Living in Birmingham, the location of SEC headquarters, I will be very surprised if SEC football doesn't happen this fall, although it may be played in empty stadiums and only conference games. Those protests in Michigan about shutdowns(although seriously, why can't lawn services work?) and other places will be nothing compared to what will happen down here LOL.

And Joe 32F, those are not the only reasons to play games in empty stadiums. Down here, in the fall, our sad lives, including those of my husband and daughter, revolve around college football, with the Masters Golf Tournament being a close second. You should have heard the grieving when they thought that was cancelled. It was worse than me complaining about my cancelled trip to England.

Ireland just cancelled all gatherings of more than 5000 until September

For info, the teams have announced that the game in Ireland has been cancelled.
Revised plan is to try to play the game Labor Day weekend in Annapolis.

Too bad. A game like this would give me another excuse to return to Ireland. Maybe 2021

So I presume the Fightin’ Irish would be considered the Home Team?

Maybe if the Navy mascot was a sheep, instead of a goat, that would make Navy practically Irish!
