This is our first and probably only trip to Ireland and Scotland but somewhere we've always wanted to travel. We will be a party of six ages 66, 64, 38, 32, 8 and 3. Does this look like a doable schedule? Except for Dublin, we are staying in private rental homes. We will also have rental mini-vans for day 3-9 in Ireland and Day 9-13 in Scotland:
Night 1&2: Dublin, with hop-on-hop-off bus passes; Reservations for night 2 at Food, Folklore and Fairies at Brazen Head.
Night 3: Head to Waterford, staying at Waterford Castle; go to Smithwick's Brewery in Kilkenny
Night 4 & 5: Staying in Killarney; 2nd day reservations for Jaunting Car; visiting sites around the area such as Cork or ??, (any ideas???)
Night 6, 7, & 8: Staying in Galway; on the way reservations at Adare Manor Falconry then 2nd night Trad on the Prom. Thought we would see Quay Street, Cliffs of Mohr, Adare Village. Any suggestions?
Day 9: Head to Shannon and fly out to Edinburgh for 2 night stay.
Night 9 & 10: Edinburgh; 2Golf at St. Andrews on day 2. Suggestions for other things to do very welcome.
Night 11, 12: Inverness - See Moray Firth, Loch Ness, Highlands - again suggestions welcome.
Day 13: Head back towards Edinburgh for late evening flight to Dublin.
Night 13: Stay at airport hotel in Dublin for next day flight home to U.S.
Day 14: Head back to the U .S.
I know this is probably a lot to accomplish but knowing this will be our only trip to this region, we wanted to try to see as much as possible without being ridiculous about it. Trying to do things that will appeal to grandparents, 2 adult male kids and 2 small granddaughters. Any suggestions those of you have who have traveled this area extensively would be much appreciated!
