We will be in Ireland on the tour for 7 days.
Just curious about money to bring. Should we bring Euros from the US and about how much ? We figured spending money because we will use credit cards for the rest. Thanks for your help.
Since you really won't need cash the moment you land, wait, and get a few euros from an ATM when you get there.
You are correct, you will not need much, the places you will be on the tour readily take credit card, even for small purchases of a few euro.
Just pick the first decent looking ATM and get 50 to 100 euro to split with your partner. That will do for the trip, you may even find yourself having to spend it to get rid of it, or save for the next trip.
If your bank easily has euros available, that is fine as well, but if you have to order, pay an elevated price, and pay for the FedEx to get it to you, then the ATM makes more sense. Also, some banks have a minimum exchange transaction, and even 200 euro would really be too much.
And don't even think about an ATM at the airport. Wait until you see one attached to a bank.
I am one that does not fear ATMs at airports or other places. Contrary to popular belief, different ATMs do not charge different exchange rates, you will certainly pay a use fee of a few euro, but likely will from one attached to a bank. No harm waiting until you get into town, but do not waste a bunch of time looking for the "right" ATM.
The only warning I would give, is be aware of is DCC, where instead of simply withdrawing cash, you are agreeing to do an exchange transaction. Always do the transaction in local currency (euros in this case) and decline any conversion offer.

I agree with Paul. There is a cost for convenience, and sometimes it's worth that cost to save time.
