I am visiting Ireland the last week of April and first week of May, going out to Cong, Doolin, Dingle, and Kenmare. Will I be faced with midge issues if I'm out hiking in those various locations? I dealt with midges over in the highlands but didnt realize it may be a problem in Ireland as well..thanks for any input!

Greetings from a presently midge-free Ireland.
I doubt that April will be warm enough for them to appear, but you never know.
They can be as much a problem here as they are in Scotland. But I haven't encountered them on hikes in many years.
Besides, Americans have overcome bigger obstacles in their lives than non-fatal, but admittedly annoying, Irish flying mini-bugs.
You'll be grand.
Slainte!

thanks Stephen!
We hiked most of the west of Ireland in April & May of 2014 and I don't recall having any issues with bugs. Lots of wet tracks and the occasional passing shower though, so be sure to bring your waterproofs.
