Mid November trip. Ireland?

Thoughts on Ireland in mid to late November?

I did a week in early November in 2019. The weather that year was fine but it gets dark so early- and I will not drive there after dark. So that made for short days. But we got an incredibly cheap package so it was worth it for us. If you are staying in a city, it wouldn’t matter as much. So I’d say, it all depends.

What are you planning to do then? If a city break then fine. If planning on outside activities - not so good as not only will you have short days the weather can be iffy too. Many attractions close end of October and if planning on walking etc then underfoot conditions are likely to be wet and muddy.

You can find climate-summary charts in most cities' Wikipedia entries. I don't really trust their average-temperature information since weather is so wild now, but I think perhaps the precipitation data might be useful.

Dublin has, on average, only 73.5 hours of sunshine for the entire month of November. That would be a hard "no" for me, but I am unusually sun-dependent.

If that's when you're available, that's when you should go. Days are short, and weather is a crap shoot. That's Ireland. Tailor your plans and expectations, and you'll have a great time. As another poster mentioned, more time in the pubs! The museums will be far less crowded than they are in the summer. Lots of advantages to the off-season. Enjoy!

I don't know if you're an opera fan, but the Wexford Opera Festival takes place every November. The dates this year, however, are late Oct - early Nov so that might not suit your desired schedule. https://www.wexfordopera.com/
