My sister and I are considering driving around the Dingle Peninsula when we'll be there in late April. Does anyone know if it’s likely to be overrun with tour buses at that time of year? I’m wondering if we should plan to go early to avoid congestion on the road or if it’s not too bad yet. Thanks!
I don't know about being over run by tour buses. Just a word of caution:
A friend and I rented a car for a week in Ireland years and years ago before the influx of tourists. The scariest part was on the narrow country roads. When traffic and especially large buses approach your reaction is to swing right. In Ireland that's into traffic instead of away from it.
There's so much to see off the beaten path. We found a 300 y/o woolen mill, monastery ruins, and the fuchsia hedges that lines the roads. Gallarus Oratory is worth a visit.
Have a great trip!
