Malin or Culdaff

For our third trip to Ireland we keep learning how to make each visit better.... we like to plan enough to have places to stay in areas in or near we have plans (this trip a 4 course golf tour for my husband and photo tour for every stop in between for me) and we love to off the major tourist routes but he can only do so much online... and alwasy welcome the feedback from other who have traveled there or those who live there.

We are trying to decide between two places for a one night stay as we drive from Newcastle north to stay one night then off to Ballyliffin for a tee time early the next am. We probably would be arriveing in time for a meal, maybe a little sightseeing before the sun goes down which is when we put the car in park and prefer to walk to the remainder of the days enjoyment... a good (or couple) of pints until time to walk home and call it a night.

We are between McGrory's in Culdaff or Malin B&B in Malin..... McGrorys looks nice, good food and possible live music, great photos of rooms, good online reviews....but it is a hotel. Malin B&B is in the northern most town, its small, quaint and quite and has 2 pubs within walking distance... very little photos of the B&B (just one), one review and not much else out there online.... but thats kind of what's intriguing about it... it is NOT a hot tourist destination and looks like it might be right up our ally.

Would welcome any feedback..... or if we missed any good spots within 20 minutes of Ballyliffin Course, would love to know more!

Haven't stayed in or visited Culdaff...if we did drive through my wife was driving and I was conked out. :)
Malin and Malin Head we LOVED. Gorgeous scenery in the area and Malin itself small, calm, incredibly welcoming. I'm not sure that was the B&B we stayed in but I'll try and check my trip diary...I remember it was wonderful. The area and Malin Head were great .... we loved the remote wild feel. We are the type that would prefer that every time over a hotel and a more touristy area...but that's just us. Malin and Malin Head is a great option.....one of our favorite stops in the north. Hopefully someone can let you know about Culdaff....but for serenity, beauty, great interactions with locals and top notch pub grub Malin is fantastic.

Thank yiu!! If you do have a chance we would love to hear where you stayed and even where you ate!! I had a gut feeling this town would be like that and what we like too! We’re also stopping in Ardara, Donegal & Sligo and ive fine my best to find accommodations in the surrounding towns do we can visit the cities & sites during the day then rest up, Park the car and enjoy the evening at pub that’s within a 15 minute walk!!
Thank you much again for taking the time to reply!! It’s so much nicer to hear from others then try to do what we think is best from all we read, see or don’t see online!!
