M6 or M7 Dublin to Doolin, Which is More Scenic?

Hello,
We will be making the drive and the time listed is about the same. We would appreciate suggestions for which route is more scenic.

Thank you in advance.

I can't speak to which route is more scenic, but the M6 passes Athlone, which would make a nice stop to break up the trip. Castle, old pub, and nearby Clonmacnoise monastic site.

Another vote for M6. I've not visited Athlone but Clonmacnoise with its ruined chapels, round towers and carved crosses is wonderful.

Take the route through Athenry (attractive walled town with ruined castle and abbey) . This then takes you through Kinvarra and Dunguairre Castle - Ireland's answer to Scotland's iconic Eilean Donan castle.... From Ballyvaughan take R477 around the coast for some super Burren coastal scenery to Doolin.
