Hello,
We're planning to take the rail from Dublin to Tralee on our way to Dingle and would love to stop at the Rock of Cashel but we will have our luggage with us. Does anyone know if there is any place to safely store luggage? Thanks for any information!
Ever since the 1970s when they removed luggage lockers in the train stations (as a reaction to plane hijackings/bombings) it's been impossible to find places. Your final lodging will usually allow you to drop off bags early or pick up later, but "lockers" are just no more. You're constantly reminded not to leave unattended bags wherever you go.
That's one of the reasons I always get a car. A friend who travels everywhere via public transit just packs super light - a small backpack and a day pack - that she can haul with her. Hopefully someone has some local knowledge of possibilities. Maybe a local shopkeeper will allow it? If you're taking a taxi from the train station, the driver might have a suggestion?
The tourist info office used to store luggage for a few hours. Also think the ticket office at Rock of Cashel used to do the same. Check with them.
A post of Trip Advisor asked the same question a year ago. You may find the answers helpful. The Tourist Office won't store your bags but it might be possible to find a restaurant or hotle who might...
