Luggage

We would like to stop at Kilkenny Castle on our way to Cork. We will have our luggage in our rental car, and are wondering if it would be unsafe to leave it in the car. (at this or any stop for that matter). Are there lockers or storage facilities at these types of sights?
Thanks so much.

We traveled around for 2 weeks and never felt that it was unsafe to leave our luggage in the car. We didn't have anything of great value in the car, but nevertheless we had no worries! In fact the 2 nights that we stayed in the tiny town of Portmagee, we joked that we really could have left our car keys on the dash with the car unlocked and have been perfectly fine. :-)

In public places and towns you really have nothing to worry about...just lock the car and don't leave your bling out where people can see it (do people really take bling to Ireland?)

In remote places you do need to be a little cautious. Many sites will have signs warning people about locking their car. We always wear backpacks to carry things like cameras, passports and cash with us. So, if someone breaks into the car, all they're going to get is a few pairs of jeans, some shirts, and 10-14 days worth of underwear.

Last year, at Mahon Falls in co. Waterford, there was shattered glass all over the car park from several cars that were broken into. We've been to over 60 places in Ireland, and that's the only time we've ever seen such a thing....which tells me that it doesn't happen too often, but it does happen.
