Love this forum...itinerary critique please

This forum is always so helpful, so thought I'd put this out there...time frame is late April, early May. Our main interests are beautiful scenery, photography and avoiding crowds :).

Day 1 Sunday: arrive DUB at 10:20, pick up rental car and drive to Powerscourt Gardens and hotel (nice Marriott, free with points!), tour gardens in afternoon. Relax!

Day 2 Monday: mid-morning start, Rock of Cashel, (what else) sleep in Kinsale

Day 3 Tuesday: Don & Barry's walking tour of Kinsale, lunch in town, drive to Kenmare. Sleep in Kenmare.

Day 4 Wednesday: Ring of Kerry day following RS book, sleep in Kenmare

Day 5 Thursday: Drive to Dingle, along way stop at Muckross House and sheep farm. Sleep in Dingle.

Day 6 Friday: drive Dingle loop, sleep in Dingle

Day 7 Saturday: What to do this day? Enough time to do Cliffs of Moher? Free Marriott points night in Athlone on our way back to Dublin. Would like to get to Athlone before dark. Only reason going to Athlone is for the free night, and it seems on the way.

Day 8 Sunday: Must be in Dublin in for beginning of conference. Need to return rental car by 10:00 AM at DUB. This is the only part that is absolutely set.

I know there are many who would not do both Ring of Kerry and Dingle loop...still trying to convince myself that we don't need to do both, but gosh darn it, I can't wrap my head around going to Ireland and not doing the Ring of Kerry. So much to see...so little time!

Thanks in advance!

On Day 2 start out early at visit Glendalough then make your way to Rock of Cashel then to Kinsale.

As far as seeing both the Ring Of Kerry and Dingle’s Slead Head I’d say yes.

Give up the Cliffs of Moher and visit the far less touristy Kerry Cliffs Of Portmagee during your Ring Of Kerry days. Don’t miss the Gap Of Dunloe and when on Slea Head stop at Coumeenoole Beach and climb up the hill for a nice view of the Blasket islands especially if its a clear sunny day.

Near Athlone is the ancient monastic site of Clonmacnoise. Well worth a stop. Also, Athlone has a castle on the river that has an interesting history due to its strategic location. Small, but I enjoyed it.
