Looking for two-bedroom suite/apartment/townhouse in Dublin City Center

I've been to Dublin a few times in the past and usually stayed at Buswells hotel, but (as others have mentioned in this forum) hotel prices in Dublin are much higher than they were the other times I stayed there.

I'm visiting Ireland in late September with my cousin (who has never been to Ireland) and we are trying to find lodging in the Dublin city center where we'd have two bedrooms and one bathroom so that each of us has some privacy. She's female, I'm male, and while we get along well, we'd much rather have separate rooms rather than share a room.

It's looking to be too expensive for us to book separate hotel rooms, which is why we are thinking that it'd be nice to find a two-bedroom suite, apartment, townhome, etc. But I've looked on Airbnb and VRBO, and couldn't find anything that wasn't outrageously expensive.

If anybody has any good advice on this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it!!

Prices have shot up largely due to Dublin having banned many short-stay apartment rentals to address the permanent housing shortage. The ban hit AirB&B and VRBO in 2019, while we were staying in one, and the owner discussed the problem with us. At least we didn't have to vacate! Then the asylum crisis from the war has added to the problem. Hotels and B&Bs seemed to have taken advantage of the market pressures. If you think housing has gone bananas, wait until you price a rental car!

Have you explored "one bedroom" places, since many offer convertible beds in the living area, so you'll have a lot more privacy that sharing a room? There are hostels available at prices closer to what hotels used to go for and most have segregated sleeping.

We're in Dublin next month and we're paying $159/nt on Gardner St. even though I made the reservation last summer. It was one of the few places under $200 in walking range of the city center.

After lots and lots of time spent to research lodging options in Dublin, I ended up finding two rooms at what looks to be a wonderful B&B in the Ballsbridge area -- Pembroke Hall. The cost is about what it would cost us to book separate rooms at places like Academy Plaza Hotel (a decent hotel but not on par with a great B&B like Pembroke Hall), and noticeably less than booking separate rooms at Buswells Hotel (my favorite in the Dublin city center), so I am pleased with my decision and hope it turns out to be a good one.
