We are going to Ireland next June. Our flight home departs 1:05 pm, Wed June 26. Need town suggestion’s between Galway ( we’ll be there for 2 night ) and Dublin Airport?? We will stay in Dublin the first two nights of our vacation so probably won’t need to stay IN Dublin the last night. I think Kilkenny will be too far to enjoy anything but don’t want to be stressed getting to the airport and car rental return the day we leave.
Suggestions ?

I would recommend Athlone or Trim. There is probably more to do in Athlone and Clonmacnoise is close by. Trim is a smaller town, but you have the castle and it is close to Newgrange. Trim is also closer to the airport.
I made a stop in Athlone to get out to see Clonmacnoise, and there is a castle on the river that has an interesting history that was good to spend an hour in.
What time do you need to book in for your flight home? Trim is going to be about an hour drive (pray you don't get held up in rush hour traffic) and don't forget to allow time to drop off the car...
You may want to look for something a bit closer to Dublin - have you thought about somewhere like Malahide of Portmarnock?
Thanks I’ll look at those two towns too. I’m assuming we need to be at the airport 2 hours early and leave time for car return so 10:30 or so.
You actually really need 3 hours at Dublin if you are flying to the US because you must go through US customs and immigration. All the flights to the US leave out of the same terminal and it gets very backed up at times.
