Long Layover in Dublin

Hello, I am hoping to get some advice for my first international trip ever. am going to Italy this October and on my way back to the US I have an 18hr layover in Dublin. I get in at 10pm and don’t leave until 4:30pm the next day. Does anyone know if I will be able to leave the airport/go through customs that late? Also I am debating whether I get a hotel by the airport for the night then explore in the morning. Or heading into downtown Dublin and stay there overnight. Any advice or input would be great!
Thanks!

Since you will be arriving on what is presumably a regularly scheduled flight from Italy Irish immigration and customs will be open and you will be able to leave the airport. Whether you stay at a hotel near the airport or go into Dublin City Center is a more difficult question to answer. If the immigration (passport control) line is long it might take you a while to get through. Or your flight from Italy might be late. Another thing to consider is that you really must be back at the airport 3 hours before your departure. You will go through US preclearance - US immigration (passport control) and customs in Dublin. The process is like this. After checking in for your flight you will go through Irish security, then US TSA security, then US immigration and customs. You can use the US Mobile Passport Control app to expedite US preclearance. https://www.dublinairport.com/flight-information/travelling-to-usa/mobile-passport-control
