Recommendations please for hotel or B&B in Dublin or surrounding area. Nice, clean and homey. Not too pricey, maybe under 100 euro per night. Visiting for 5 nights in early June of 2017. Thanks!
You might check under Hotel & Restaurant Reviews on this site, but I can tell you our experience from May 2016 from 2 nights in Dublin. We found Harcourt Hotel one of the more affordable choices. It turned out to be OK (nice, clean and homey as you say)... except for late-night noise from the nightclubs on the street and in the building. Only hotel I've ever stayed in that provides earplugs on the nightstand.
Harcourt St. is well removed from the chaos of Temple Bar and Grafton St.; it looks perfectly quiet in the daytime, but after midnight it's a whole different story. Apparently people come to Dublin from all over for their bachelor/bachelorette parties (British "stag do" and "hen do"), so you could encounter this anywhere in the city. Just saying you may want to check customer reviews and/or search on Google Maps to see how close a given hotel is to bars, nightclubs, discos etc.
I don't know how much the hotel is but when I went on the Rick Steves Ireland tour we stayed at Buswells Hotel in Dublin and I really enjoyed my stay there. It had a wonderful breakfast included in the room rate, as I stayed 4 extra days in Dublin. The hotel was in a great location and easy to get to and from the airport and around the city from this hotel. It was a very nice hotel and the staff were excellent. They were so nice that they made sure that I stayed in the same room before, during and after the tour was over. The tour started and ended in Dublin. It is not homey as it is a large hotel but not that large, and again the dining room and the breakfast were excellent. I would stay there again. Dublin is a very nice city with a lot to do. Have a wonderful time.
We've had good luck using www.booking.com in the past. Their reviews seem to be pretty reliable, and we found the map feature to be especially helpful in sorting out the relative locations of the various properties, access to the DART, nearby attractions, etc.
Avoiding the Temple Bar area is good advice.
On our last trip we stayed here: http://leesonbridgehouse.ie/ ... located in a pleasant (quiet) area. About 15 min. level walk to St. Stephen's Green, and the airport bus stop is right outside the front door.
Finding a place for 100 euros per night might be a challenge, but if you expand your search beyond the central Dublin area (Howth for example) the prices tend to go down dramatically.
Maria:
How about a room in a residence hall that is part of Trinity College?

Like other folks have stated: if you are staying in central Dublin be sure to bring ear plugs.
I have visited London three times in the past four years and part or all of each stay was in a residence hall. Works for me: lots of space for little money.
Think about an apartment. We found one for six adults (3bedrooms) through TripAdvisor for only 777€ for three nights, included a washer/dryer and kitchen, and was a ten minute walk from the initial stop on the Hop-on, Hop-off bus, which we used for our city transport. They also offered a driver from the airport for just another 50€.
