My husband and I will be traveling to Ireland in late Sept. His ancestors were from the Cork region (Glenworth and Fermoy). Would like to stay in that area 2-3 nights. Looking for suggestions for best small towns/lodging to use as base for sightseeing. We will be flying into Dublin and would also like to spend a night or two outside Dublin to see and visit - any suggestions for that before driving south.

Rick's favorite home base in County Cork is the coastal town of Kinsale, which is about a one-hour drive from your destinations of Fermoy and Glanworth. His book also covers Cobh, which is a bit closer. Google Maps is one of the online tools that can find closer B&Bs, if a particular town is not important.
