On our last full day in Ireland we'll be traveling from Ennis to Dunboyne. We will definitely go to the Rock of Cashel en route. We don't have enough time to see both, so which should we choose: Limerick town and King John's Castle or Kilkenny including the medieval town, Kilkenny Castle, St Canice's Cathedral, and Jerpoint Abbey, Kells Priory?
I haven’t been to Limerick but enjoyed all the places you mentioned in Kilkenny. Also check out the Black Abbey, Rothe House and Garden, and Smithwick’s Experience.
Another vote for Kilkenny, although it does put an extra hour on the drive time...
We also really enjoyed Kilkenny. The castle, Jerpoint Abbey, and Kells Priory were worthwhile attractions. For food/ drink we recommend Kytler's Pub, a neat historic restaurant/ pub with good music. Or for a very nice meal, Ristorante Rinuccini, great Italian food in a formal setting located across the street from the castle.
We visited Kilkenny earlier this month. Excellent place for a day visit.
Kilkenny, no question. Been to both. Been back to Kilkenny.
