Any suggestions for a place to spend the night that is less than an hours drive to Dublin Airport to return a car in the morning? Possibly Malahide as it is on the North side?
Thank you all.
Trim is lovely! It's about 45 mins to the airport. The Highfield House is great - I stayed there this spring with my mother. It's a very short walk to the castle. Try to catch sunset at the Hill of Tara via the road by Bective Abbey.
The other place I would recommend is an Air BnB on a farm between Navan and Slane - https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6536134 Lovely hosts and friendly rescued farm animals - what's not to love? We stayed there the night before we left Ireland and had a lovely dinner in a host-recommended pub in Navan.
Enjoy your trip!
We’re leaving for Ireland tomorrow, and will be staying in Trim in 2 1/2 weeks. I could give you the name of our place, but we haven’t stayed there yet. We’ll be there for a few nights while exploring the Boyne Valley, but a bonus is that it’s so close to the Dublin Airport, where we’ll be turning in our rental car.
