Last days of a busy trip

I’m travelling to Ireland in September and hitting some of the highlights for the first two weeks and then I’m looking for a respite for 3-4 days south of Dublin where I catch my return flight. I saw a great article from the Guardian travel site about the views from the train to Wicklow. I’m not locked into Wicklow but looking for suggestions for picaresque places with eateries, walking trails and ocean views. I’m hoping to book a BnB as I like a safety net with my accommodations. Thanks for any help. Cheers from 🇨🇦. PS I’m not driving which is way too scary for me and others on the road.

We enjoyed a few days in Waterford. It's about 2 hours south of Dublin by train. It has Viking history. The tour of the crystal factory was very interesting. It has the Waterford Greenway (29 miles of traffic-free walking, biking trail). It has coastal drives, beaches and cliffs as well as the river.

Thank you. I’ll check out Waterford. I should have said I’m not driving which I know is crazy for Ireland but my old brain is not fit for operating heavy machinery. 🙄

We enjoyed our two nights in Kilkenny at Butler Court and wished we had had more time there. Yvonne was a helpful host. It’s not a traditional BnB but you have a varied cold breakfast in your room.
From there we took the 1.5 hr train ride into Dublin.

Wicklow is beautiful, especially around Glendalough which has some lovely places for walking. However, I’ve only visited with a car so I’m not sure how easy it is to reach on public transport.
