My family I are traveling for 10 days in Ireland. We will be driving. We would like to travel from Kinsale to Doolin, so we can see the Cliffs of Moher, but want to avoid the Ring of Kerry and Dingle. We plan to hit Galway after the cliffs. Any suggestions for a nice stop over or is it reasonable to travel in one shot?
You don't mention when your planning this or why you want to avoid the southwest. I personally found the Cliffs of Kerry to be just as impressive as Moher, without the mass of humanity (although I think the farmer charges 6 or 8 euros).
Without knowing what you're doing after Galway, it's difficult to offer any other advice. The drive from Kinsale to the Cliffs is perfectly doable in one shot, but stopping for lunch at Durty Nelly's and visiting Bunratty Castle maybe?
Thank you for your tip about the mass of humanity, that's helpful stuff. We are avoiding it as we live on the coast of California, and we are blessed with beautiful coastal views in our regular life. Your tips for stops along the way are appreciated.
