Kinsale to Dingle!

Hi All!

We will be traveling to Ireland this October for our second time!

Our itinerary leaves 4 full days and 3 nights between Kinsale and Dingle unplanned. We already have 3 days planned on Dingle and wanted to take our time from Kinsale to Dingle exploring along the way. We were thinking Beara and Iveragh peninsulas and Killarney National Park.

Looking for specific suggestions for places to stay along the way, things to do, sites to see, with as much outdoors as possible!

Thank you!

The Iveragh Peninsula is beautiful! We spent 4 nights in Cahersiveen, and it was a wonderful base for exploration. Just outside of town there are castle ruins and two ring forts to visit and the White Strand Beach is nearby as well. It is also a good base for driving the Skellig Ring and seeing the beautiful Cliffs of Kerry. On one of our days we took the ferry to Valentia Island where we did some hiking, saw the tetrapods and visited the Skellig Experience. If the the weather is good and you're very ambitious you can visit Skellig Michael. We couldn't do it because it was closed for Star Wars filming but it looks awesome!. Nearby Waterville has a nice little waterfront park where we picnicked--be sure to look for the Charlie Chaplin statue.

We did the Ring of Beara on our way to Killarney when we were in Ireland and it is beautiful! The owner of our B&B in Kinsale recommended it over the Ring of Kerry and the scenery was just gorgeous! It was quite a while ago but, at that time, the roads were very narrow so there were no tour buses, just ocean, castle ruins, sheep and small towns. It took most of the day to get around the ring but it was probably because we stopped to enjoy the scenery so often and explore the castle ruins.

They stop the Skellig Michael trips Oct. 2nd. That's officially. We are in Ireland now and had tickets, but the trip was cancelled due to conditions. One person inspire to said that in Sept. They are lucky to get out only a couple times a week.

That being said, we just did 1 night in Kinsale and wish we had more time. Spent 1 night in Waterville, allowing us to do the Skellig ring and Valentia Island (took the bridge over, free.) and got to Annascaul which is between Inch beach and Dingle by 5pm.
