We will be visiting County Cork this coming September. We're staying in Kinsale and would like to visit Cobh as well. What is the best way to get to Rick's sights in Cobh from Kinsale? We will have a car, but if some other form of transit is available, we'd like to consider that too.

We took the ferry from the Kinsale side to Cobh and then back again. I know we had a hard time finding it leaving from Kinsale but it drops you almost right in the middle of Cobh. Found out about this from Ricks Ireland book. Very inexpensive and took no more than ten minutes. Very handy.
There's no train on the Kinsale end and probably also no bus between them, since Rick doesn't mention one. The drive + car ferry instructions on p. 199 of Ireland 2017 are the type that warrant careful reading and maybe printing a Google Map to highlight in advance.

My understanding is that there is no ferry between Kinsale and Cobh. If there is, can you send me a link to their website?

I was hoping that this could be a round trip half day trip. Looks like we'll just have hit Cobh after we depart Kinsale.

Sorry if my post was not clear. There is no ferry from Kinsale. I said from the Kinsale side of the river. It is aways from Kinsale, don't remember how far.As Laura said, print out directions as it is not easy to find without GPS. We did not have a GPS but printed instructions only. Cost for round trip less than 10 euros and takes about five minutes each way. I think their website is something like Cross River Ferry or Ferries.
