Kilmainham Gaol then Guinness Storehouse?

I managed to get tickets to the Kilmainham Gaol at 10am and I’m wondering whether we could also see the Guinness Storehouse later that same afternoon? How long does the Gaol take?

We don’t have a car so we would need to take a taxi or a bus to the Gaol that morning.

Can we do both sights the same day?
What sort of timing would you recommend? What time do you think we could book in at the storehouse?
Where should we have lunch?
Could we walk to the storehouse or is there a better suggestion?

Thank you in advance for any advice

We visited Dublin this July and visited Kilmainham Gaol and then walked to the Storehouse. The Gaol tour takes 90 minutes and there is an excellent museum, so would recommend that you allocate 2 hours. If you want to eat prior, you can eat either close to the Gaol or at the Storehouse. For us, we had a huge breakfast, so we weren’t hungry until later in the afternoon so we ate at the Storehouse. It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk to the Storehouse.

One thing we ran into with the morning tour at the Gaol is that we did not adequately allow enough time for the taxi ride from our hotel. We had an amazing driver who managed to navigate safely through traffic shortcuts to get us there on time. I would make sure you give yourself enough time as the tour starts on time.

Excellent advice above. We did the same once. Another time we took the bus from the Gaol to the warehouse. I seem to remember the bus was at the top of the street from the Gaol and we got off at the warehouse. That would make it easy for you if the weather is bad. I remember paying cash but was two years ago so not sure.

You definitely have time for both. We visited Kilmainham Gaol last May. I agree with the other poster who recommends allocating 2 hours for the gaol. We didn't go to the Storehouse. However, after visiting the Gaol, we took a taxi to the GPO, which is an operating post office and modern Irish history museum. This is where the 1916 Easter Uprising took place. I highly recommend visiting this museum. It adds to your knowledge gained at the Gaol.
