Kilmainham Gaol -- all booked up; odds of still getting in?

So apparently "a few days before your visit" is NOT the way to go when booking tickets for the tour. All tours between now and August 10th are sold out and we're only in Dublin 24 - 26 (leave for Kinsale the 27th). The site says they release them online between 9 and 9:15 for that day, but has anyone had any luck with last minute cancellations?

I'm not new to this. I booked our tickets to visit the Anne Frank house as soon as possible, but at least they mentioned that in the guide book. I'd have booked sooner had I had any idea. gah!

Maybe email them? Check every day? I mention that because I had to return tickets which wouldn't be used. At the time (2019) the website said tickets were non-refundable. But they refunded me anyways so I assume they simply resold the tickets I returned. The whole purchase/return/refund occurred via email 2-3 weeks before the entry date.

My need to plan, plan, plan, can get the better of me, and of course it's the site to see, so I'm disappointed. But I thank you for your recommendations and your optimism. I know plans change for others as well and that can benefit me.

It took me three trips to Dublin to remember to book the Gaol ahead of time. I tried getting in the other times but all slots were gone. (No online then.)

I would just keep checking back and be ready every day to get online to book that day. You could get lucky. I enjoyed my visit.

I'd also investigate if there is a private tour company or bus tour that may include entrance. Might be a bit more expensive, but it would get you in at least.
