Killarney - Top 2 Sightseeing Priorities?

We're two couples wrapping up a 12-day September golf and sightseeing trip with four days in Killarney. We'll golf two of those days (Dooks and Killarney Golf & Fishing Club) and dedicate the other two to exploring. Given that we're from the Pacific Northwest and are used to dramatic mountains and beautiful landscapes at home, what would you prioritize for our two sighseeing days?

1) Gap of Dunloe + Killarney National Park
2) Ring of Kerry
3) Dingle Peninsula/Slea Head Drive.

There's a slight chance our husbands will golf a third day, in which case, what would be the #1 sightseeing pick for them to join in on?

Have you thought about Ring of Beara and a trip on the Dursey Island Cable car?

In Dingle visit Foxy John’s.

Hopefully Fall colors will have begun. In over 50 years of travel hiking the Gap of Dunloe on a November day is favorite memory. Saw 3 other hikers, 1 trap, 3 bikers, 1 lorry and numerous sheep! The golds, yellow and reds from the flora were gorgeous. One photo 35 mm I snapped I entered into photo contests and won.

On Slea Head hike out to the Coumenoole Ofham Stone and enjoy photographing Rabbit Island as well as the coast line of Eire. On the way to and from Killarney stop at Coumenoole beach.

We are also PNW folks, having just returned from 14 days in Ireland. We did not do Ring of Kerry, following RS suggestion, so I can’t speak to that. Gap of Dunloe was magical—don’t skip. The TI office (in town) Killarney was very helpful, with maps and explicit directions. We walked Muckross grounds, drove to Ladies’ View then Kissane Sheepdog farm before lunch. Drove back to Killarney for lunch then on to Kate Kearney’s. We took a jaunting car round trip, then walked the road again at our own pace. The crowd had thinned and we had the place to ourselves. You will have shorter daylight hours in Sept, but you get the idea. While the flora was familiar, the experience is breathtakingly beautiful. I would it again in every season.

We did Slea Head with Michael’s Archeological tour another day. Excellent, although a wet day for us. Highly recommend!
