Kids Pubs Ireland

We are planning a June 2019 trip to Ireland with our (she will be) 10 yr old daughter. How accepting of kids are the pubs really? Will it be ok for us to bring our daughter into the pubs to listen to music. She LOVES music, especially Irish! What are the unwritten rules about kids in pubs? Thank you in advance for your responses.

By law children under the age of 15 must be out by 9 PM. Unfortunately most of the music doesn't start till later than that. However, more and more pubs are starting to have earlier sessions, especially on weekends, to accommodate those with minors.
Best to check locally to see what the specific policies may be.

Hi kerri, we visited Ireland in June 2017 and it seemed that music was everywhere. We found great traditional music in the pubs during the daytime and early evening. There were lots of families with children enjoying lunch and the entertainment. Talk with the folks at your hotel to find out if there are concerts at the local churches or other venues. In Dingle, we went to a wonderful concert at Saint James Church and another at the Dingle Music Shop. In Dublin, many restaurants had music starting up around the lunch hour. Enjoy your trip!

We visited several pubs in Ireland when our kids were not eligible to drink alcohol and enjoyed great traditional music.

The LAW is that kids need to be out by 9:00 pm.

The reality is VERY different.

On a night full of tourists and music I've never seen families with children asked to leave; from Mayo to Dublin to Waterford to Waterville.

If you're thinking of spending any time in Galway, there are lots of really good street musicians performing every day, for free.

St. Nicholas Collegiate Church also hosts concerts of classical and traditional music quite often.

Have fun!

Is the law 15? Just curious because I will be in Ireland this August with my 15 yo turning 16 in September daughter. Will she be allowed in the pubs?

We found a pub in the Temple Bar area that has music all day. Our 2yr old and 4yr old granddaughters absolutely loved it. they danced for an hour! Sorry, I can't remember the name!

We were in Dingle last year with our two daughters (14 &12). We went to two different pubs at night with the girls and had zero problems. We found the pubs to be very family friendly. It was a great experience with my family.
