My family will be in Dublin for a few days this September. We're looking for a pub with music (preferably trad, but open to other types) early enough in the evening that my kids (9 year old and toddler) will be awake to hear it. We'd also love recommendations of other kid friendly music or general activities for our time there. Thanks!
Most pubs with trad music are mainly for tourists. The Brazenhead is interesting and very old. There are plenty of pubs with music, much of it trad, in Temple Bar. In the afternoons it is less crowded and most have live music. Most pubs serve both lunch and dinner.
Dublinia is a very hands-on experience, fun for all ages, and it's a surprisingly serious lesson in Viking and Dublin history. The Leprechaun Museum will be fun for your 9-y/o and interesting for the adults as well with lots of Irish history and lore as a guide leads you through the exhibits. The National Archaeology Museum is a wow and there are bound to be exhibits that will interest your kid. I'm not sure what would interest a toddler.
