We will be in Kerry during the first week in May, planning on staying in the Dark Sky Reserve. Ideally we would like to stay in a quiet area in an AirB&B-type cottage or a small guesthouse off the main road. The areas I’m particularly interested include Sneem, Waterville, Caherdaniel and thereabouts.
Any suggestions?
We also would like to spend a few nights in Kenmare - this time right in town. Suggestions too?

We enjoyed our stay at Tahilla Cove Country House Bed and Breakfast, Ring of Kerry, Sneem, County Kerry. Its location would work for both of your destinations.
In Kenmare we stayed at http://www.ashfieldkenmare.com/ Seems to fit your bill, its a mile or less from the town center, walkable but also if you choose to drive plenty of parking by the church in the town so easy access either way. Ashfields is off the main road in nice quiet area near the golf course. A nice hike by the river is right near by and Mary and Paul were great hosts and breakfast was very very good. We spent three nights there and did RofKerry, Beara Peninsua, and hit the pubs for music and great food at night.
