We will be staying in Ballybunnion and originally I thought I would divide these into two different day trips, but I'm wondering if I could combine them. Essentially, I'd like to see Kenmare and do some shopping and then in Killarney I mainly want to explore the Muckross House and National Park. Thoughts?
You can easily spend 2 days around Killarney, one for the gap of dunloe with boat and jaunty cart, adn one exploring Muckross House and the National Park.
We plan for three nights in Killarney on our next trip. So much to see and do in that area. Don't miss the "Celtic Steps" production at the Maltern or the Torc Waterfall which is just ten minutes by car from downtown. If you do the Ring of Kerry and/or the Dingle Loop (most on this forum would recommend Dingle) leave your rent car in the parking garage and hire a driver for the day....just trust me on this. Your hotel can find a driver for you.
As much as anything, we enjoyed just hanging out on the streets downtown in the evenings .....bagpipe players and street musicians .....a relaxing , pleasant atmosphere.
