Kenmare and Killarney????

google maps has it at about an hour..... I find google is usually 'optimistic' about the time

We were satisfied with Kenmare for 5 nights in Kerry. We were persuaded in part by RS's negative comments on Killarney. However, Kenmare was also best for day trips around the Ring's western routes, a day on the adjacent Beara Peninsula, Sneem, Waterville, Portmagee, Kerry Cliffs, etc. Killarney would have been more convenient for the day we spent in/around the National Park, but having a single base for the area was convenient and Kenmare offered plenty of evening dining/music options. (BTW, the Kissane Sheep Farm near Moll's Gap, between Kenmare and Killarney, was a worthwhile stop. If interested, check their website for the demonstration schedule - it seemed a bit random.)
