June, July, or August for Ireland?

Our family is travelling to Ireland with my elderly mother this summer. We have the choice of going in late June into July (the first two or three weeks of July), or for the month of August. I think, given the choice of less crowds or nicer weather, we would choose less crowds. Advice about the best time to go? Thanks!

I don't think you would find too much difference between those windows. Both are going to be peak tourism season. Both are going to give you a good chance to experience mostly good weather.

FWIW I was there last sumer for the first couple weeks of July. We only had a few rainy days, most of the time the weather was lovely (and I actually got a sunburn one day). There were certainly crowds in places that are "famous" (eg Dublin, Galway, Cliffs of Moher, Dingle).

The good news: if those are your two options, neither one would be a bad choice.
