June itinerary check

Planning a trip at the end of June for my husband and my parents. The general plan is
Fly into Dublin
2 nights Ennistymon
1 night Dingle
2 nights Killarney
2 nights Kilkenny
Fly out of Dublin

We really want to focus on some history and mostly outdoorsy things. Planning on Slea Head Drive, Cliffs of Moher, Killarney National Park, Rock of Cashel. Anything off the beaten path that we need to add?

I'm assuming you are hiring a car?

Take the M4 and M6 out of Dublin and make a stop at the early Christian site of Clonmacnoise with itr round towers, ruined chapels and carved crosses. If time allows make a brief stop in the medieval town of Athenry with its ruined castle and abbey.

Think about taking the N67 coastal route from Ennistmon and using the Killimer to Tarbert Ferry when travelling to Dingle rather than going round via Limerick

Visit Rock of Cashel on the way to Killkenny and if time allows also go and find the ruined Hore Abbey below the town. This would be a lovely place for a picnic.

Thank you! I will look into all of those. I have been researching the best route from Dublin to Ennistymon. One route for though Kildare. Is that the same one?

The direct route through Kildare takes you to the south of Clonmacnoise as shown by the pale blue on the map. The route I suggested is the dark blue. Although you could head back north for it - see this map.
