Itinerary Question

My wife and I have been to Ireland twice before. During our first trip, we stayed largely on the west coast (Shannon, Galway, Lahinch, etc.). On our second visit, we stayed in Dublin, the Boyne Valley, and Galway (again). Now, we will be traveling in March. We plan on spending at least a few days in Dublin, but are undecided on the rest of our itinerary. We have considered traveling to the south of Ireland (Waterford, Cork, etc.). We have also considered taking a ferry to either the Isle of Man or to Wales.

I would appreciate any endorsements or concerns for any of the options I mentioned. Any other suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks!

Have you been to Northern Ireland? We enjoyed both Derry and Belfast, along with Dunluce Castle and the Giant's Causeway, which was awesome! We also went to Liverpool after Ireland and enjoyed it immensely. Whatever you decide, hope you have a great trip.

Have you considered Donegal? National Geographic recently named it the coolest place on the planet to visit! It could fit well with also visiting Northern Ireland.

OTOH, if you're interested in the southeast of Ireland, there's a fair amount to see and enjoy around Waterford and Wexford. From Wexford/Rosslare you would be able to take a ferry to Wales -- either Fishguard in the north or Pembroke in the south.

We loved Donegal and also a place in Grange called Atlantic Sheepdogs.

Wales is lovely! That would probably be my first choice, although I also liked a previous poster's suggestion of Northern Ireland. I truly enjoyed visiting Belfast and the Giant's Causeway is amazing. (Be sure to take a rain jacket.)

Sorry the last message was sent before being completed. County Donegal is wonderful and has more than enough scenery, cute villages and amazing beaches to keep one busy even for a month. Donegal town has trad music every night and Slieve League is not to to be missed. Overall I can't recommend it enough.
