Itinerary: Girls Trip 10 days Ireland & London

We are 3 women planning a 10 day trip late June/early July. Only one of us is new to int’l travel. We want to spend 2 days in London, about 3 in Dublin and the rest on the west side (Galway, Dingle, Aran). We want to squeeze as much as we can into 10 days. Ideas on transportation /where to start /where to end?

10 days is pretty short, to any single destination. Splitting it between London, Dublin and the west coast of Ireland is going to be...well, I won't characterize it, but, I'd just suggest: pick what's most important to you. I don't think 10 days split between these three destinations/areas is going to get you what you/most people want.

First issue: Does your "10 days" include travel time? How much time on the ground, not including your arrival or departure days, do you really have?

I would fly into London, then assuming next Summer is the same as this fly Ryanair from London Luton or London Stansted to Kerry airport, make your way up to Galway then train or bus to Dublin.

Fly back from Dublin on an open jaw ticket.

That way round you use US pre-check at Dublin.

Flights from London to Kerry are NOT daily-
They leave Stansted on a Wednesday to Monday- but you really need the early flight at 0845 (arrive 1015) on a Friday to Monday
From Luton the flight is at 0855 on Sunday, or 1000 on Monday and Wednesday.

Given the limited time one way car rental Kerry to Galway (or Dublin if you prefer) would be best.

Allow 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Central London to either airport and 2 hours check in time, so best to do an airport stay the previous night (go there after a full day of London sightseeing).

This does seem a rushed and busy itinerary but if that is your style so be it.

A ten-day tip is ideal for a girl's trip and late June or early July is a good time to visit (before the European schools take their 6-week summer break around the middle of July - Sept). If you could squeeze in maybe two more days to allow for travel that would be best.

Luton or Stansted are a lot further out of London than you think. You could also look at London City Airport, or even go back to Heathrow. British Airways can be priced just a little higher than the budget airlines but it will save you some travel time and be more convenient depending on where you are staying in London. Ireland is best by car or small group touring. Public transportation does not connect all the small towns you may wish to visit. When we did a girl's trip in Ireland (2015) we booked through https://vagabondtoursofireland.com/. They are a small group Irish tour company and are reasonably priced. I think their shortest tours are 6 days and priced around 1600 Euros.

Thanks for the suggestions! After reading the replies and talking it over, we’ve decided to cut out London and enjoy more of Ireland.

A wise move. You will be glad you did.

Plenty to see and do in Ireland, and takes longer to get around in Ireland (especially in the west) than most first-time visitors expect. Have fun!

Definitely a good move. Two days in London really isn't worth all the hassle of getting there. Ireland will be much more fu. The ten days will fly by.
