We'll be in Dingle, then heading northward toward Knock, and on to County Lietrim. Where should we stay after Dingle? My brother was thinking Limerick, but my niece says it's known for crime, and the RS Guidebook doesn't list it... So I'm thinking closer to Galway. Or should we stay in one of the small towns around the Cliffs of Moher?
We stayed in Doolin, Co.Clare years ago. Nice Pubs and Traditional Music in Doolin. Near the Burren too. Stayed at Churchfield B&B. From there it was back to Dublin for us. 15 day road trip around the southern coast. If you can and the weather is right, I would recommend visiting The Great-Blasket Island while staying around Dingle. Go as soon as the weather is right and don't delay. We also took the Ferry across The Shannon Estuary at Tarbert to Doolin.
Please stay in Doolin! And please try to stay at Churchfield B&B! Maeve and her family are absolutely wonderful. Take the ferry over to the islands and pay a little extra to come back on the boat along the Cliffs. You won't be disappointed. McDermott's pub is a very short walk from the B&B and has great trad music. We drove all around the Republic and Doolin turned out to be our absolutely favorite stop.
Hello from Wisconsin,
North of Dingle...several places I would recommend are Ennis, and Clifden. Both are large enough to have restaurants and shops. Ennis' high street is what really makes this place worth a visit. Clifden is an old market town. It and surrounding small drives makes it a great place.
Then beyond Clifden is Leenaun on Killary Harbor. Killary Harbor is Ireland's only fjord. The sunsets are so peaceful. Leenaun is small. There is at least one pub for food.
Oh, and even further north is Westport. A planned city and the planner must have a good eye. Beautiful place. Ships loaded with grain eventually came into Westport during the great starvation.

Thank you all. I think we'll stay in Doolin because we're going to the Aran Islands. Not sure where we should stay after Doolin. We'll be going to Knock and then on to Country Lietrim and I guess Carrick-on-Shannon. Any suggestions on where to stay after leaving the Aran Islands? Thanks!
I booked St. Bridget’s Serviced Apartments in Galway http://galwaycityaccommodation.com/
and Failte B&B in Westport [email protected] for an upcoming trip in Oct.
I have stayed in both Limerick and Ennis in between Dingle and Galway. For the trip I am currently panning, we'll stay in Ennis.
