Itinerary for Dublin, Aran Islands, Cliffs of Moher

Hi everyone, I need help with my itinerary for my upcoming trip to Ireland!

Sunday - Land in Dublin at 4:20pm. Stay near the City Centre. (Guinness Storehouse closes at 5pm, so I won't make it that day.)

Monday - Places I want to go: Cliffs of Moher and Aran Islands.

Tuesday - Come back to Dublin before 4pm so that I can go to the Guinness Storehouse. Stay overnight near City Centre again.

Wednesday - Fly out of Dublin in the morning to London.

Cliffs of Moher hours - 9am-7:30pm
Aran Islands Ferry - sails to island at 10:30, 1:00, and 6:30. sails back to Galway 8:15, 12:00, 4:00, 5:00

(Option 1) Early Monday morning, go west (3 hr drive) to the Cliffs of Moher (Doolin) and then go up the Burren Coast Drive to Galway (1.5 hr drive). Then take ferry to Aran Islands (Inishmore) and stay on island overnight. Sail back to Galway Tuesday morning and then go back to Dublin from Galway.

(Option 2) Go west to Galway and take ferry (1:00pm) to Aran Islands. Sail back at the 4:00pm, and then go down to Cliffs of Moher. Stay in Doolin for the night. Go back to Dublin from Doolin Tuesday morning.

Any other suggestions are welcome. All I know definitely is that I want to go to the Guinness Storehouse. I have the Aran Islands (Inishmore) and the Cliffs of Moher because I heard those are both incredible.

I'm also not sure if I should rent a car or if I can take the train or bus to these places. Thank you!

With your limited time I would maybe choose between the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands. What about driving to Galway Sunday night? For us going from Galway to the Cliffs of Moher and back was a pretty full day in itself. If I were in your position, I'd probably do this:

  • Sunday - Arrive in Dublin and drive to Galway (Arrive about 8 or 9pm)
  • Monday - Cliffs of Moher OR Aran Islands and then enjoy some Galway nightlife (great music city)
  • Tuesday - Drive to Dublin in the morning and enjoy Guinness storehouse in the afternoon (we spent about 3 hours there!)
  • Wednesday - fly to London

Hopefully this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions. The west coast of Ireland is one of the most incredible places on earth. Enjoy!

Sláinte,

Kyle

Hi Kyle! Thank you for your reply. I did my research and sadly found out that I definitely can't do both. And I took your advice and am planning to get to Galway by Sunday night! But I have two options for Monday I'm debating between..

(Option 1) Take ferry to Inismore from Galway and spend entire day there (6 hours).

(Option 2) Sign up for the Combo Tour through Doolin2Ferry. I would be picked up by bus in the morning and be driven down the Burren coast to Doolin. The tour includes ferry to Inis Oirr, ferry back under the Cliffs of Moher, and finish at Cliffs Visitor Centre. And bus would return back to Galway by 6:30pm.

I'm not sure which one to choose.. Thank you for your help so far!
