Itinerary Feedback

My husband and I are planning a 12 day trip (2 days of travel) in early March 2026. We plan to fly into Shannon, stay in Limerick the first day to rest and the next day hire a car to do Ring of Kerry for the day and drop us back to Dingle for three nights. Then we plan to hire another car to take us to Galway via Cliffs of Moher and ferry. I had initially planned another 4 days in Galway, but not sure I want to spend so much time doing urban things. Now thinking of doing two days in Galway and two in Connemara. Is taking on Connemara too ambitous? Is one day in Galway enough and better to do 3 days in Connemara. Suggestions please!

Thank you :)

Does your 12 days include or exclude the travel days? Does "hire a car" mean "hiring a driver" or rental car? What ferry are you talking about? You could take the Doolin ferry to one of the Aran Islands then a ferry from there to Galway. If you're thinking of that, you could spend the night on Inishmor. Ferries from Doolin in March are a weather risk.

You will get better feedback if you mention your likes/dislikes (e.g. hiking, cuisine, art museums, pubs, etc.).

We love Galway, and Connemara could be a day trip, but the actual city of Galway doesn't offer much besides good pubs and music. We've never stayed in Galway more than two nights, and usually just one. Shifting to Clifden, Westport, or Donegal might be a thought.

Thanks for this. It's 10 days in Ireland. I meant hiring a car to drive us. Neither of us wants to deal with the stress of the roads. Planning for any sea boat ride in March does seem risky. We are thinking of doing a lake boat tour in Kilkenny instead--staying in Kilkenny 2 days after Ring of Kerry -and then on to Dingle--perhaps taking a bus to Dingle. Thinking 3 days in Dingle. Then we would hire another driver to take us via cliffs of moher to Galway. Maybe only one night there and we will stay 2 or 3 nights elsewhere like connemara (or your suggestions). Want to do some pubs and music but also mostly be with the land. We are limited, however as my husband has some limits with walking.

Yes, Killarney. Multi-tasking clearly not working ;) Thanks for the transport rec.
