Please understand public transport in Ireland will up travel time. Having a car is the best way to see Eire.
However, you’ve opted to rely on public transport.

So on Day 3 Might as well see Belfast on. Easy train or bus ride from Dublin to Belfast. Remember British Pounds for NI. It will be a long day as its 2 hours each way.

Find the earliest bus or train. I took the train from Connelly to Belfast station. Must say it wasn’t a day trip. Was staying with friends in the Titanic Quarter.

In Belfast tour the Titanic Museum, St Georges Market and the Kilmainham Gaol. Have a meal at Mournes by the Kelly Pub Cellars. Bus or train back to Dublin. Long day but then you can say you visited two different countries.

Last month we did a day tour to the Rock of Cashel, Blarney Castle, and Cahill Castle through Irish Day Tours. It was excellent. Note that they used to stop in Cork, but switched from Cork to Cahill Castle because Cork took too long. The trip was almost 14 hours as it was!

If I wanted to include Cork, I'd probably take a train there and stay a couple of nights, booking a tour to Blarney and Cashel from there.

Note that anything you want to do in Belfast pretty much MUST be booked in advance.

Kilmainham Gaol is in Dublin, not Belfast, and also must be booked in advance. It's very worthwhile.

The jail in Belfast is called Crumlin Road Gaol, and it must be booked at least a day before. We couldn't get in, so I can't comment on this tour.

In Belfast, I'd highly, highly recommend a murals/troubles tour, but make sure you book through Paddy Campbell's Tours and not other companies advertising taxi tours. (I'll explain why when I get a chance to do my trip report.) http://www.belfastblackcabtours.co.uk
