Itinerary Adjustments for Extra Time in Kerry and Sligo

Greetings,

I will be visiting in June and spending several days in Dublin before renting a car to drive for about 20 days (a total trip of 25 -26 days). I plan to follow the itinerary Rick Steves recommends for a 21 day visit with a few exceptions.

I have booked a place on a boat tour to Skellig Michael, so I plan to spend a few extra days in the Kenmare, Killarney National Park, Ring of Kerry area. I enjoy walking, so I plan to walk the Gap of Dunloe and perhaps sections in the National Park.

I might spend the night in or near Portmagee the night before by boat tour and perhaps do a short kayak rental while in the area. So I am considering 2 nights in Kenmare and 1 night in Portmagee before driving to Dingle for 3 nights.

After exploring Connemara and sleeping in Westport, I plan 2 days in the Sligo and Drumcliff area. I am a big W.B. Yeats fan, and it’s a beautiful area as well.

Any comments or suggestions about these modifications to the itinerary are welcome (especially suggestions for lodging near Portmagee, Sligo or Drumcliff and recommendations for walking in Killarney National Park.

Thanks,

Raymond

wittenmy,

I haven't gotten that detailed in my planning, yet. Thanks for the link; I wasn't familiar with this site, and it looks great.
