Is Killarney a must see? And where do you keep bags while in Dublin?

Hello again 😁

We are having to change our plans a bit just because I found an unbelievable deal on airfare.

So I have a few questions.
If we fly into Dublin and do not pick up our rental car what would we do with our belongings while checking out some sites like Trinity college, etc since we prob won't stay there the first night.

And is Killarney a big tourist trap or is it worth it? I would use the jaunty car service as I can't do prolonged walking due to an unfortunate medical condition.

I was just rereading. My RIck Steves book and he doesn't list Killarney as a must see.

Thanks !

We really enjoyed Killarney. Loved renting bikes and biking into the park to Muckross house and farms and then to Torc waterfall. We stayed at the Lake Hotel and absolutely loved it. Right next to the park. We also really enjoyed Blarney Stone which is another site RS does not recommend so I think that you need to take travel books with somewhat of a grain of salt.

I enjoyed Killarney. There's lots to see and do close by, and yes the town does cater to tourists, but for that reason there is usually something going on that tourists want to see. I also found it quite a friendly place. I've heard a lot of people say go to Dingle instead, but then I've also heard others say Dingle was too small for more than a one night stop. I did the jaunting car ride through the Gap of Dunloe and I seem to recall that we all had to get out of the cart and walk up one particularly steep section of road (too much weight for the pony with everyone on board), but one German tourist who didn't understand English stayed in the cart anyway. If you have trouble walking you might want to check into this before you go.

There's luggage storage at the main tourist information office in Dublin. We wound up not having to use it, so I can't vouch for it, but you can read about it here: http://www.touristofficedublin.com/luggagestorage.php

In my opinion, Killarney National Park is a must see. We stayed one night in Killarney because our son had to take the train back to Dublin the following day. The town was must larger than I had anticipated, and we did not see or experience very much of it.

We met a couple in Dingle who told us we could pass through the Black Valley by continuing on through the Gap of Dunloe. It was the most beautiful and memorable drive of our sixteen days in the Republic and Northern Ireland--which is saying a lot. Ireland is such a beautiful country.

Greetings from Ireland
Personally I really like Killarney and think you should consider at least one night there.
Heres 3 reasons why
1. National winner of the 'Tidy Town' contest - great civic pride
2. A beautiful National Park on its doorstep to hike and relax
3. Plenty of good accommodation options to cater for all budgets

Enjoy!
