Is it a good idea to purchase advanced tickets of guided tour for Book of Kells

We will arrive to Dublin on the morning of Tuesday, Sept 26. We plan to do Trinity College and Book of Kells that day. We do not know what time so wondered if we should plan to do advance purchase of tickets or wait until we arrive there to purchase. There was some comments from March 2016 but no activity as that forum was closed due to inactivity.

Hello,
I was there in mid June. I didn't pre book any tickets. I just joined the line, which actually moved quickly. I thought I might be in line for an hour, but it turned out to only about 20 minutes.
Enjoy your visit!

Hi,

I too did not pre-purchase tickets for our visit to Trinity and the Book of Kells. With that said, my visit was at the end of April 2016 and not during the summer when tourism is really booming.

As to the tour itself, I found it fascinating and very well done. You are given an audio guide that allows you to move through at your own pace. There are a number of side exhibits, such as one demonstrating how books were bound by hand back then.

Enjoy your trip!
Best,
Robert

I would purchase the tickets in advance.

Are you coming from overseas? If so, I would book a late afternoon slot in case your flights in delayed?

Definitely pre-book Kilmainham Jail if you plan to visit (and you should).
