We'll be driving, via rental car, in Ireland and Scotland. Is an IDP required for these countries even though we have U.S. driver's licenses? Do the rental car companies require them?
Many thanks!
If your current drivers licenses are in English, then no, you do not need them. They do have an age issue though if you are 75 or older.
Not only should you have a IDP you should make sure you have good insurance to cover the car you rent. Don’t take No for a answer.
You do not. need the International drivers license in Ireland or Scotland as long as you have a valid US drivers license.
Thank you for the replies. I double-checked with our car rental agency and an IDP is not needed in Scotland and Ireland.
Happy Friday!
