Is Glenveagh Castle open?

Does anyone know if Glenveaugh Castle is open for tours? Their website says tours are suspended due to Covid but other searches show it's open. Thanks.

There's lots about Glenveagh Nation al Park on the web, but virtually nothing about the castle, which does seem strange. I did find this article which is dated 7th February and who seem to have encountered the same problem as you...

The contact email for visitor services is glenveagh-education@npws.gov.ie

Thanks wasleys for thinking to contact visitor services. I'll do that. But it's reassuring to know you saw the same things as we did regarding the castle!

We heard back from the castle. Here is their reply.....

Yes we are fully open. The grounds & parking are open Mon-Sun all day, Visitor Services e.g Buses Mon-Sun 9.30am – 5pm. Our shuttle bus services is now up and running following Covid 19 Guidelines. 3.00 euros adult rate, 2.00 euros concession rate, you get your tickets at the Visitor Centre when you arrive.

The shuttle bus takes you from the visitor centre to the Castle area, a 4km distance you can also walk this trail it’s called the Lakeside walk & is one of the most popular trails in the park.

Our Castle tour is now self-guided, Adult rate 7.00 euros per person adults 5.00 per person concession, no pre booking taken, booking on the day when you arrive at the park.

When you're at the Castle area there is a variety of trail options here also, the Gardens are a must visit & you can also take the Viewing point trail, it quite steep/incline in some areas but worth it as you get a beautiful view of the lake & castle, all self-guided.

On your visit our Tearooms are now open at the Castle area, they have some great homemade options to choose from. Also during your visit in July our Restaurant at the Visitor Centre will also be open offering some hot lunches etc.

We do apologies that our website caused any confusion & thank you for informing us it's much appreciated. The website recently got a completely new overhaul so we're grateful for any feedback. Now that we're aware of the error on the website we can amend, thank you again for letting us know.
