We will be in Ireland for eight days in May (eight traveling together, six of whom have never been to Ireland). Our overnight stays will be in Kilkenny, Kinsale, Killarney (two nights), Doolin, Galway, and Dublin (two nights). When traveling from Kinsale to Killarney, is Cork worth a visit of a few hours? Or should we go on to Killarney and spend more time there and in that area? Rick writes almost nothing about Cork city in his book, so I was just wondering what our fellow travelers who have been there think about it. Thank you.
Cork is very much worth visiting.
This website below is for 3 different self walking tours through the city of Cork.

The best place for parking a car I have found is along St. Patrick's Quay, there are at least 3 different parking garages (one of those is over night parking).
Some of the best fish and chips I had which I was in Ireland was from this fish and chip shop in Cork called the Fish Wife (try the Hake), located the street behind St. Patrick's Quay.
The main city center of Cork is just across the bridge from St. Patrick's Quay on St. Patrick's Street.
If you do the walking tour most of them start from here. My personal favorite walk was the South Parishbrochure walk, cause it brought me to the English Market.
