Is a Ring of Kerry tour a little redundant after touring Killarney the day before?

Spending a first day in Killarney and doing jaunt tour, lake boat tour and Muckross house. Would a guided tour of the Ring the next day be redundant in the Killarney area and sites? And therefore just better to drive the rest of the Ring ourselves? (we're planning to drive Dingle the following day and eliminate some drive time). Or are there any guided tours that don't include Killarney where we could see just the rest of the ring? Probably not but wanted to check with this forum. Thanks!

If I had a full day to explore the Ring of Kerry and a car I always would do it on my own not in a bus

See places like Ard na Sidhe Country House on the Caragh Lake a bit away from RoK but signposted
and have a Afternoon Tea on the terrace by the Lake (good weather permit)

Drive the Skelligs Ring from Portmagee to Finians Bay and the Chocolate Factory and Ballinskelligs Beach

Go down to Derrynane House and the beach and do a short walk

Drive to Staigue Fort

All places (and there are more)you wont see on the normal bus tour from Killarney

You have either to do a private tour or drive on your own

When want to do a organized private daytour I can recommend Mary and Rays Walkwithme.ie in Killarney

I have only done a Ring of Kerry bus tour once, but it did not include the same places.

Don’t miss Muckross Abbey.

While it has been nearly 50 years since I was last in Ireland (I am going in April with RS), I still vividly remember having tea on a high hill overlooking the RofK. It was recommended by the owner of the B&B I stayed in outside Killarney. It was wonderful. I am debating renting a car and doing the drive on the full day break we have while staying in Dingle, or renting a bicycle and just doing the Dingle Peninsula.

Does anybody have insight on my choice between Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula?

Best do it yourselves, then you can concentrate on the sites you want to see.

Don’t miss the stone ring forts. Stague is up a side road in the middle of nowhere. Cahergal and Leacanabuile are close together and done as a pair. They are very different.

Also don’t miss the Kerry Cliffs which are equally as good, if not better than the more famous Cliffs of Moher, but without the crowds...
