Irish Ferries / Sail & Rail

Planning a trip to Dublin, September 2017. We will be in Dublin 3 days, then will take the Irish Ferries to Holyhead, then the train to Cardiff.

Has anyone traveled this route?

Thanks

Yes. It's fine. It is something I would do to say that have done it and as an interesting travel experience, however it is not something that I would routinely recommend as the best way between Dublin and Cardiff. Much of the railway journey through Wales is rather pleasant. The boat does attract something of a rough crowd though and It isn't time efficient. Also, it isn't really any cheaper than flying - especially when you factor in the cost of food on the boat and on the train and you compare it to FlyBe, who offering Dublin - Cardiff flights for 35 euro in September.

I just checked Cardiff Airport (CWL). Another option for us to consider.
We need to reach the Cardiff City Center. Is there a train from the Cardiff
Airport to Cardiff City Center?
Thanks.
