Ireland with kids, Dublinia, Irish National Heritage Park, Muckross

Greetings all,

Will be in Ireland for 10 nights. Basing 3 nights in Dublin, 3 in Kilkenny, 3 in Killarney, 1 in Adare. Flying into Dublin and out of Shannon.

Our 3 and 6 year olds will be in tow. Specifically for the kids I was planning to visit some combination of Dublinia, Irish National Heritage Park (County Wexford) and Muckross Farms near Killarney. For my ages, are any of these clearly inferior or redundant? Especially interested in INHP since it's a bit out of the way. Anything GREAT for kids on this loop that I may not be aware of?

Thanks!

Alex,

If you plan on doing the Ring of Kerry/Skellig Coast region when you're in Killarney, there is a place in Waterville that does beach walks for children. YOUNG children. I've gone to the adult walks (she does snorkeling tours too) and I've seen her do the children's beach walks.... nothing beats a tiny kid in tiny wellingtons (with unicorns! or butterflies!) walking on the beach with their little nets, learning about the seashore! It's actually adorable....

I'm sure you know about the jaunting cars. I've done the Killarney town to Ross Castle and back tour with friends and their two year old. She loved it! (except one piercing scream that lasted 60 seconds, and ended in a nap!). Kids love the horsey!

Susan,

Thanks for the reply. Ring of Kerry is on the list, but will depend on family's tolerance for another driving tour at end of trip. Killarney NP is currently only allotted a half day so Ring of Kerry may be sacrificed to spend more time there. A beach walk sounds great and I'll definitely consider it time permitting.

Kissane Farms outside Killarney where they do sheep herding and sheering demonstrations. St Stephen's Green also has some great playgrounds that my kids loved.
Our kids also really enjoyed Bunratty Castle and Folk park
